The uncomfortable small storage closet began to close in on her, but this was the only solution – to hide herself away from all the mockery.

Why did everyone always underestimate her? She buried her face in her arms, embracing her knees and just cursing him under her breath in as many ways possible, using the precise words her mother had told her never to use.

Pansy knew she wasn’t a fool – but then why did she feel like one?

Five months was longer than she thought it would last, much longer, for she had decided to work it out with him. Pansy kept to the thought that he knew how to hurt people’s feelings and break people’s hearts, and she assumed she was strong enough.

And yes, for those five months she remained strong, a strong bond between the two that appeared unbreakable. Five months of bliss, five months of ease and five months anyone would die for.

She did not understand why today brought her in such a whimpering, merciless shape. It was such a shame to look so weak in front of them all!

Why didn’t he tell her earlier? And how long had he been keeping this cruel secret? Pansy had always been the one to wait, as impatient as impatience got, but she still sat idly and let him speak first.

It had passed only about five minutes ago, though she could still see that meddling Daphne Greengrass hanging onto his arms, in a way he had never allowed her to do. She could still see the trademark smirk on his face as the both of them passed her in the hallway, appearing to be holding back their laughter.

And then she could see herself running away from the sight.

"Oh, just get over it," Pansy had told her friends when they’ve been in the similar tight situation – now she saw how hard it really was. Cheating did no good in the game of love and trust.

Even if she swore herself she wouldn’t cry over such a pathetic fool, the sounds of mockery and laughter from the students outside was the perfect thing to lead her to a downfall.

A downfall she could not run away from.
